Glaucoma Association Forum

Our forum is moving!

Our current forum will close on 29 June.

As we are soon to become Glaucoma UK, we are excited to announce our new website forum will be moving to the world’s largest online support network- HealthUnlocked. We have our own community, currently International Glaucoma Association. People with questions or comments about glaucoma and related topics can post them on the site. Much like on our existing forum, people can respond and our staff will moderate responses. However, there are more things we can do with this site compared to the existing forum – we can post surveys or tell you about events and you can make friends with other members of the community. One big advantage of using an external site like HealthUnlocked is that they take care of spam or other junk posts. That means we can focus on getting the right information to you. You can also join communities linked to other conditions or topics.

Simply register here healthunlocked.com and join our community by typing International Glaucoma Association in the search bar, then click on “Community” you can then add yourself to our page. If you have already registered, then just click here healthunlocked.com/iga-uk to join.

You can still post to this forum as normal until 29 June. However, you may find HealthUnlocked a better experience – why not try it today? If you need any help with signing up, please contact our helpline on 01233 64 81 70 or sightline@iga.org.uk.

Hello, I'm sure one missed  drop will not do any lasting harm, I am always concerned how we keep drops cool whilst on holiday. I purchased a small flask use frezzer packs and place my drops in there whilst I'm away it is not very convenient. Hotels are obliging placing freezer packs in their freezer. Does anyone have any solutions to this problem please? Lavengro

Thanks for advise. I know about emergency prescription but as arrived late I couldn't fine pharmacy until day after. I'd spoken to my pharmacist but decided to speak to GP as wouldn't be able to speak to eye Dr. My GP said as my laser treatment had corrected my pressure that one day should be ok but if I had any worries go to the local A E. I have purchased the cool wallet online to help as sometimes when u travel u dont have a fridge in rooms. Hopefully this will mean I will have them on me regardless. Thanks again.

Hi Ann - You could always contact your GP who might be willing to fax a prescription to the local pharmacy.  But, if it's only for one night, I wouldn't worry too much - difficult I know.  Your pressures might go up but unless they usually go very high it's unlikely to do lasting damage, especially if you're on maintenance and not classified as a critical patient.  You could always try the local A&E but if they're doing triage you'll likely be waiting most of the day.

Try not to get too stressed - that won't help!

Hi, wondering if anyone can help.  I've travelled to Kent for time away and forgot to bring eye drops. I used Latanoprost 0.01 one drop in each eye at bedtime. Will be hone Wednesday night. Will I be okay without and any recommended to help in mean time. I know I could get emergency prescription but seems a waste for one night now. Thanks Ann
