If your eye(s) feel 'stuck' to your eyelid when you wake up it could be a sign of dry eye. The drops your GP has prescribed may not be enough to treat the dry eyes that you have. Pharmacists sell an array of dry eye drops and prices vary considerably. The best type of dry eye drops to use when you go to bed are ones that lubricate the eyes as well as hydrate them.

You might have blepharitis. It seems to be everywhere now. Talk to your GP who can look at your eyelashes and see if you are affected.

PS there seems to be a lot of "recommending" of expensive packaged cleaning systems for blepharitis at the moment, but warm water and gentle eyelid massage also works Smile But you may need antibacterial treatment to start with.

Hope this is all it is!

i was diagnosed with open angle glaucoma about 5 years ago and prescribed drops. One eye is worse.  For the last eight weeks I wake up at about 4 am in the morning but it takes a few seconds for my left eye to open and then it feels very sore and as if something is on my eye.   At first this only happened in my left eye but now the right eye is the same but not as bad.   I gently rub my eyelid and after a while it seems better.  in the day my eyes are ok but just a little sore.    i told the doctor and he just gave me eye drops which are not doing anything.   He said wait for my next appointment at the hospital in middle March and explain to the doctor.     Has anyone else experienced this?   I wonder if it is cataracts as the optcian did tell me I had them.
